Child Poverty and Economic Security for Families

In line with CDF's goal to end child poverty, CDF-SRO works to raise awareness about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) (Mississippi sites) and other benefits to help working families keep more of what they earn so they can help their kids.

Each year, CDF-SRO helps to bring millions of tax credits back to working families through coordination of free tax preparation services. In 2010, CDF-SRO worked with partners to help more than 2,500 clients receive over $4.9 million dollars in refunds for low-income families in the Jackson metro area.

Did you know?

Many low-income working families, earning less than $35,000 a year, are eligible for income tax returns of up to $4,300.

To see if you qualify for assistance, the IRS has provided this list of VITA sites in Mississippi.
